Gurman, Rob - 1st Lt

Written by the editorial staff at the MD44 press office!

Rob took some convincing to join Miss Drop 44 and get back into the hobby! I felt like I had been talking to him for years before he came out and met us all at the Overlord show in early 2022. We clicked and he loved the ethos of the group, our aims and the way we did things. Being a more 'senior' member he was soon lumbered with helping with forms and 'babysitting' as I call it. For example answering stupid questions -

"what events are we doing?" - "USE THE WEBSITE!"
"Do we need to bring food?" - "yes unless you like being hungry"
"What shall I bring?" - "everything you need and the same as last time"

Oh the joys of arranging and trying to book into shows when you have to almost beat the information out of people. So thank god we.. and when I say we... I mean me.... have Rob now to help with this process!

Rob luckily has the same sort of warped sense of humour as most members of the group; although some are bit more extreme! If jokes had a line of not to cross... he sneaks up to it... whilst others tend to dive right over it.

When not playing soldiers, he pretends to be still be young and fit by having a profile photo of him running... although I'm not sure exactly how long ago that photo was taken? We do share a strong dislike of Parkrun (yes I spelled it with a capital on purpose), that happy clappy cult like running club that invade parks, invent stupid rules about dogs and sometimes have total arseholes as run dictators... sorry, I meant 'run directors'.

Rob has been involved in the living history world for at least 85 years and seems to know everyone . He's done a few varied impressions to... Australian, German Fallschirmjager, US 29th and now finds himself in the 101st with us

So far Rob hasn't said or done anything ludicrous... so this is a bit short... give it time though. I'm looking forward to updating this over time!
